I just got back from visiting my mom's house for a couple of days.
It's something I do once a month and even though she's only an hour and a half away, it's nice to spend some quality time with her.
We laugh, we eat, have a couple of cocktails, and basically enjoy each other's company.
So, I packed my trusty suitcase.....
(Isn't the liner pretty?)
and set it aside, so I could get the kids in the car.
Come on, Mini! It's time to go!!
Don't look at me like that. It's not that long of a trip and besides, you love your grandma.
"Did you say, "Grandma"?"
Yes, Bubba.
"Oh, good! She's got cookies!!"
And so, off we went with the human child (my daughter, Annie) in tow.
We had a great time as always :)
Since I just got home, I'm going to whip up a quick dinner and relax for a bit.
After that I'll answer all your comments that I couldn't get to before I left, and go and visit some of you, before I hit the sack.
I hope you all had a lovely week.

Your dogs are so adorable...:) Glad you had a nice visit with your mom. Nothing beats mother/daughter time...:) Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Vicky! I agree :)
DeleteYou have a lovely weekend too!
My mom used to have a suitcase like that -- I love it. Your dogs are so cute! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dee! A friend of mine gave that to me. Her aunt-in-law was an airline stewardess in the 50s, I think.
DeleteThat is one classy piece of luggage! I wouldn't trust that one being checked at the airport.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to know that you and your mother have such fun together. My mother and I always did too, but she has been in a nursing home many states away from me for several years. I miss that time together so very much.
I know what you mean, but I don't fly anymore, Dewena. I used to, but it has always scared me to death.
DeleteWe didn't always get along that well, but age takes care of that, I think.
I'm sorry to hear that your mom is in a home so far away. I hope you get to see her soon.

What cute puppies! I wish I lived close enough to drive to see my mom, I'd be visiting a lot! :) Have a great weekend Rue!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jessica!
DeleteI hope you had a great weekend too :)
Love your suitcase!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Penny! A friend of mine gave it to me :)

So wonderful to be able to spend time with your mom :)
ReplyDeleteI think so too, Miss Merry :)
DeleteMy Mom use to have case like that too. When she was alive we would have her up to the house once a week to stay overnight. She loved getting out of the city and staying with us. It is good that you are able to see your Mom like that.
ReplyDeleteI make it a point to see her every month, because no one ever knows when their parents will be taken from them. Besides, she's great fun ;)
DeleteI'm sorry your mom is no longer with you, Betty.

How sweet that you took a mini trip to stay with your mom for a couple of days - and that even the doggies went with you! My mom is 50 minutes away, so not too bad. Love your suitcase. :-)
ReplyDeleteHer granddogs are required to be there LOL
DeleteThank you, Melanie!
Hello Rue, I must put you in my favorites again. I was just thinking of looking back to find your most recent comment when I saw your comment for today.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are to have your mom to visit. My mom passed away when I was in my 40's. I never stop missing her. Your pups are adorable. So is your vintage suitcase. I can only imagine Annie has grown up by now.
Stay warm as well.
Love, Jeanne
I'm sorry you don't have your mom anymore, Jeannne. I know that must still be tough.
DeleteAnnie is 19 is you can believe it!
love you,
rue
Welcome back, Rue! I just love that suitcase. Great you can go visit your Mom! Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit.

I think she did, but she'd never admit it ;)

ReplyDeleteThank you, Christine :)
DeleteI hope you had a great weekend!
Such sweet little furry faces! Glad you all had a nice visit. It's always nice to get away, but always nice to get back home, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's the truth! I love my mom and our visits, but I love walking in my own door :)
DeleteIt's nice that you and your mom live close enough to get together whenever you want, and that you can take your cute pups with you. I like your travel case with its pretty liner. xxx ~ Nancy
ReplyDeleteWould you believe that when I lived in Ohio, I would drive across the country once a year for a visit? Crazy person that I am LOL
DeleteThank you :)
Glad for you that you had a lovely time! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Amy! :)

I think that's great that you see your mom at least once a month. I know your mom appreciates it because I appreciate it when I get to spend time with my girls. Being a mother of a 33 year old myself, I am sure that your mother smiles every time she sees you. And your doggies got to see grandma too!
ReplyDeleteA lovely post today, Rue.
~Sheri
Thank you, Sheri. I know she loves it :)
DeleteYou can't go wrong with a round suitcase! Lovely interior!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice your Mother lives close by! I was away in New Orleans for a week. I needed a little get away R&R. It was fun!
