"The time just after sunset, when the light is half-faded, but the world is not yet totally dark, is twilight."
Even the dictionary is romantic about my favorite time of day.
As I was watering, I looked up into the sky and noticed the moon was playing peek-a-boo in the clouds.
And I noticed the soft glow coming from inside my home.
When I was finished watering, I said goodnight to the squirrel that kept me company...
goodnight to the bird feeder, that feeds my little friends all day...
goodnight to the playful moon...
and walked back into the glowing comfort awaiting me...
to watch the darkness settle from my window.
Have a wonderful weekend, my friends.
And don't forget to enjoy the beauty of the days ahead, because every single day is precious, especially at twilight ;)

We spent yesterday's twilight at the beach. The sliver of setting sun was hot pink and the rising moon was gold and we were caught in between. Amazing. Enjoy your weekend, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful words to accompany your lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteYesterday our sky was full of thunderheads all day. We spent a lot of our walk time looking up!
Lovely photos in your part of the country.

Just beautiful. I love the lamp glow in your windows. :)
ReplyDeleteReminds me of that children's book Goodnight Moon.
ReplyDeleteThe hour just after the sun comes up and the hour just before it goes down are the best times of the day. Lovely photos, Rue!
ReplyDeleteI can almost hear the cicadas starting up...
ReplyDeleteMy word, but I love that house! Hope you realize what a lucky ducky you are to own it. I know you do.

Lovely glow from both your house and the moon! Beautiful shots, Rue! Last night the moon was one of the most beautiful full moons I've ever seen and you captured it perfectly! Have a wonderful weekend! =)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Rue! I love when I am driving or walking through a neighborhood when the sun is setting and I see lamps glowing through house windows. It's so pretty and cozy.

ReplyDeleteTonight is a blue moon. I think we won't see another one until 2018. We are heading out to take the boat out on the lake in a bit. Should be (hopefully) pretty. Maybe I'll take my camera ;) Thanks for the reminder.

The area you live in is so pretty in the evening. Your little house, with the glow in the windows, reminds me of postcards. The green on your side rails looks so good with the door colour. It really is a lovely house, Rue.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely weekend.
Hugs,
Deb
So pretty, Rue...I have always loved the look of lights in the windows at twilight, too.
ReplyDeleteOh, Rue, how beautiful. You've captured L'Heure Bleue with your amazing shots. Your house looks magical, straight out of a fairy tale.

Pretty pictures. I love when the sun sets. I love seeing homes lit up for the night.
ReplyDeleteRue, every time I see your home, I instantly feel welcomed. Twilight is a wonderful time, as is the dawning of a new day. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace
This was like a gentle lullaby, Rue. It is a magical post. And I suppose you realize that your house means a lot to your readers. It's a safe friendly place to go to, and to peak into your windows with soft lamplight shining is just a delight. I feel like I did when I first watched Howard's End and Vanessa Redgrave walked in her garden at twilight, looking into the windows of the house she loved so much.
ReplyDeleteTwilight is one of my favorite words in the English language and your photos do the word proud.
Goodnight dear Rue,
Dewena
Pretty pics Rue. I love to walk around outside during twilight, it's the best part of every day. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI think that I have said before that your beautiful home looks to me like a Thomas Kinkade painting and it looks even more like one in this beautiful evening light. So pretty, you have made a wonderful and beautiful home! xx
ReplyDeleteWow. Those are those some gorgeous pictures of the moon! And your house at twilight? Beautiful. I can only imagine what the blue moon looked like at your house last night! Have a great weekend Rue! :)
ReplyDeleteYour home is so inviting, cozy, and beautiful illuminated by the twilight! Looking forward to seeing the "Blue Moon," tonight! Wonder if Patsy ever saw it in all the years she sang about it? :) ~Hope you have a wonderful weekend! ~Rhonda
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, peaceful, serene, quiet, comforting... Have a great weekend!! HUGS!!!
ReplyDeleteI am happy to have found you again. I don't blog and probably never commented on your old blog but I enjoyed your writing and you were local (I am in Central Ohio). I liked you then but I love you now. I am sorry for your troubles but so glad you have a nice life now. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi Arden! Thank you so much for leaving a sweet comment this time. I'm so glad you found me :)

Rue, What a wonderful home in design and material. I think light is the most important factor in creating a cozy home and I remember going outside on sub-zero nights in northern Wisconsin and looking back at my little farmhouse and thinking how lucky I was. You must feel that way, too. The one thing I always keep instead of selling is anything charming with a squirrel on it so I love your squirrel and where he sits. There is something about their attitude that I find appealing.

Your home is LOVELY in the twilight! It puts a smile on my face, it really does. I thank you for that. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Rue you caught the blue hour! Its gorgeous! I have such a hard time capturing that! Ive also been outside the past three nights watching the moon and it was doing the exact same thing here.....lots of hide and seek! So pretty....the summer moon
ReplyDeletelove twilight!!!
ReplyDeletebeeeeeautiful photos!
We had a perfect day, a perfect twilight, and now the full moon is bright and beautiful in a cloudless sky.
ReplyDeleteIt's not raining and it's not too hot.
This is so rare for here, so amazing, and such a blessing!
Hugs.
I was smiling through that entire post, Rue! Goodnight Moon! I enjoy that time of day, too.
ReplyDeleteI love twilight too. All the pictures are so perfect with the soft light. Your house looks gorgeous as always.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Barbara :)

Rue, the way you feel about twilight is how I feel about sunrises - the morning coffee, the birds singing, the cool breeze in the morning, and seeing the sunrise come up. It's my perfect time of day. I have to say though that twilight around your house looks so pretty, and the soft light shining through your windows looks magical - I can see why it's your favorite part of the day. The bird feeder is sweet, and that squirrel would keep me company too. ;~)

Hi Rue. Don't know if you remember me. I was looking at some of the photos on Kim's site and saw your name on the sidebar listed with her favorite blogs. I figure it had to be the same Rue. I have given up blogging to but I often think of going back to it because I miss it a lot, especially the wonderful bloggers I met over the years! Glad you're back! Rhondi
ReplyDeleteRue, What a joy it is to reconnect. I have been away from serious blogging for about three years. I am beginning a new chapter in my life. I might be home for awhile instead of working, so I may come back to blogland again. My sister Sharon found you and told me about your new blog. We are both so happy that we can read your blog again. I love your cute personality and the way you tell a story. I loved the cute squirrel. I hope to keep visiting your blog as time permits me. Sincerely, Kathi (Feathering My Nest)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely view!
