Random bits and pieces

Cooler nights and scrabble.

Just waiting for it to get cool enough to light a fire ;)

Lunch with the last good white nectarines of the season.

A very sweet gift of vintage cookbooks, from my dear, sweet, friend Benita over at Chasing Quaintness.

Have you met her?

She's funny, talented and one of the nicest gals in Blogland.

Bubba in his new sombrero that my (now blonde) daughter, Annie bought him.

He looks a little unsure about it ;)

A new partition to hide the trashcans.

Paint decisions.

I finally found mini pumpkins!

And a little bit of Halloween sneaking in.

But not too much until October ;)

  3. A warm and comfy post! Makes me feel like 'nesting'.

Bubba is a cutie pie with his little sombrero. :-)

I'm wanting to paint, inside and out.

Right now we are very wet down here as it's been raining off and on since yesterday morning, sometimes heavily, with more rain predicted through Saturday.

Have a nice day dear Rue ~ FlowerLady

  6. Rue, the snippet's of your life make me sigh....The candlelight reflection off of that I'm sure , cut crystal vase make's me want to sit down and absorb the whole ambiance and play Scrabble. ( maybe a glass of wine ?)
Bubba, I lovvvve. I'm a small dog person , really any dog or animal. I lost my little Pom Woody April 1st, he was 15. I have a 7mo old white Pom, Yogi that my children bought me. They're your children , I know !!!
Benita, she's the best( not at crafting) at photography and her sense of humor and Edward's leave's me in tear's.She is so refreshing, she put's it all out there. How sweet of her to send you the cookbook's,but that's Benita. I'm happy to call her my friend at this point.
Thank you again for letting us into your life and home, I cherish your blog's.
    Have a wonderful day, TT

    1. Hi sweet Tammy :)

I'm so sorry this is so late in being answered, but I stopped answering any posts or visiting any blogs while I was on my bloggy break.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Woody. I do think of my babies as my children and I know how hard that is to lose them. (((hugs)))

I cherish your sweet words :)

  10. I love Scrabble! My husband, not so much - so we don't play it often. Maybe I'll drag it out tonight instead of our usual backgammon and give him a run for his money. Ha ha! Funny about your lunch...I had the same thing yesterday, except with peaches. Love your pooch's little hat - too cute. No, I have not met Benita. I will go over to her blog and meet her now!

  17. Hello,
I like the new partition to hide the trash cans. We have something to hide ours as well.
We are looking forward to cooler days too. We had another hot and humid day in Northern Wisconsin yesterday. The storms are rolling in this morning. I am in hope of some cool Autumn breezes for Friday. :-)

  23. Paint decisions are always hard! I love the little pumpkins. I need more fall but not Halloween decorations. The unfortunate thing is usually my taste is more expensive than my willingness to spend!

  25. Very sweet peek into your every day. We have gotten into Scrabble big time here and I actually found a swivel board game for a $1 at a sale. I have met Benita and she is a sweetie-pie. Your doggy is adorable and I like your daughter's hair color. Can't help you with the paint color....I am too indecisive! Still haven't pulled my velvet pumpkins out, but I think it will be soon. Supposed to be 85 here tomorrow. I have to pull out my sleeveless shirts and capris again!

  27. It looks like Bubba is thinking 'hey mommy! I thought househoneys was the nicest in blogland! Or am I confusing that with snarky and sarcastic? Yeah...that's the ticket! Now take this silly hat off of me before I stick Jay Leno on you!' ;)

  28. I love fruit and cheese, too. Have you tried bananas and cheese? It was my daddy's favorite, and I like it, too.

I am on the lookout for some small white pumpkins, but no luck yet.

  30. We've had temps in the 30's at night. In the morning we turn on our gas heating stove to take the chill out of the air. I love drinking coffee and watching the flames. Not an authentic fireplace like yours, but we enjoy it. Your roses are gorgeous! Hugs, Nancy

  31. Yes, Benita is so so lovely to know!! Love the partition for your trash cans. I've wanted one of those for our air conditioner ever since we moved into our house...19 years ago. Nope, still don't have one! Scrabble in front of a fire on a cool evening...perfection!!

  35. Bubba is so cute in his sombrero. Your lunch looks yummy! I collect cookbooks and these look awesome.
Great partition for the trash cans. My hubby made one too and what a difference. I hope cool nights in front of the fire with the scrabble board will arrive soon.
Have a great Friday. Hugs, cm

  36. Rue, I just love your random posts. Bubba looks too cute in that sombrero, and your daughter's blonde hair is very cool. I smiled at the triscuit plate because that's what I eat for lunch sometimes. You found some orange pumpkins! You know, I like the white pumpkins for Fall, but my real favorite are the orange ones. There's nothing like them.

    Have a good Friday, Rue.

  37. Love the random pics. I have cheese and fruit for lunch most days. Our 'cooler temps' means we aren't hitting triple digits anymore, we are still hitting 90+ in the afternoons.
Last time I saw my niece she had blue hair.
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  40. Poor Bubba for sure...he doesn't look very happy? It cooled off last week and then got warm and humid again..I am such a cooler weather person and love having a fire in the fireplace. I bought pumpkins Wednesday at the Farmer's Market. Your home is lovely.

  41. Bubba looks adorable, albeit not to happy! I finally found mini pumpkins, too, and I agree - can't do too much just yet! Fall will have to wait a bit.

  42. I'm loving the cool evenings, too. It looks like you've got some tough decisions to make regarding paint color! It usually takes me 3 or 4 tries before I get it right. Bubba looks like he's ready to party in his new sombrero!

  48. Oh, so are you making a decision for your paint colour?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yes, I know Benita and this doesn't surprise me a bit! She called the other day to see how I was doing and offered to come help me anyway she could. I bet if you needed her she would hop on a plane and be there in a jiffy. She is such a dear.

Annie's hair color is beautiful, and Bubba's sombrero is darling. I hope you get some cool mountain nights soon so you can have that fire. I remember when our kids were young how exciting the first fire of autumn was. Sadly my husband converted them to gas logs when the boys left home and there was no one to help him chop wood. Gas logs are convenient but we both miss a wood fire.

Thank you so much for leaving a comment. It means so much to me that you took the time and I read each and every one. If you don't have a blog, look for a response under your comment. I try to get to them within a few days :)

For some reason, the comment box doesn't always show up, so if you want to leave a comment, replying to someone else's comment seems to work. Also, I've had to switch from safari to chrome in order to comment on blogger, so that might be the issue. If not, you can always reach me via email, located on my side bar. Thank you!
