Cooler nights and scrabble.
Just waiting for it to get cool enough to light a fire ;)
Lunch with the last good white nectarines of the season.
A very sweet gift of vintage cookbooks, from my dear, sweet, friend Benita over at Chasing Quaintness.
Have you met her?
She's funny, talented and one of the nicest gals in Blogland.
Bubba in his new sombrero that my (now blonde) daughter, Annie bought him.
He looks a little unsure about it ;)
A new partition to hide the trashcans.
Paint decisions.
I finally found mini pumpkins!
And a little bit of Halloween sneaking in.
But not too much until October ;)

Perfect little touches. Love seeing Bubba and so glad you got those pumpkins! :) Sounds like you're nesting a bit, Rue! I'll check out Benita's blog.

Your first photo makes everything look so cosy ...
All the best Jan
A warm and comfy post! Makes me feel like 'nesting'.
ReplyDeleteBubba is a cutie pie with his little sombrero. :-)
I'm wanting to paint, inside and out.
Right now we are very wet down here as it's been raining off and on since yesterday morning, sometimes heavily, with more rain predicted through Saturday.
Have a nice day dear Rue ~ FlowerLady
What a delicious lunch! I love your random photos of life. You seem to have found the place you are meant to be.
ReplyDeleteThese are such pretty pictures and you've captured the feeling of this time of year. ;)
ReplyDeleteRue, the snippet's of your life make me sigh....The candlelight reflection off of that I'm sure , cut crystal vase make's me want to sit down and absorb the whole ambiance and play Scrabble. ( maybe a glass of wine ?)
ReplyDeleteBubba, I lovvvve. I'm a small dog person , really any dog or animal. I lost my little Pom Woody April 1st, he was 15. I have a 7mo old white Pom, Yogi that my children bought me. They're your children , I know !!!
Benita, she's the best( not at crafting) at photography and her sense of humor and Edward's leave's me in tear's.She is so refreshing, she put's it all out there. How sweet of her to send you the cookbook's,but that's Benita. I'm happy to call her my friend at this point.
Thank you again for letting us into your life and home, I cherish your blog's.
Have a wonderful day, TT
Hi sweet Tammy :)
DeleteI'm so sorry this is so late in being answered, but I stopped answering any posts or visiting any blogs while I was on my bloggy break.
I'm so sorry to hear about your Woody. I do think of my babies as my children and I know how hard that is to lose them. (((hugs)))
I cherish your sweet words :)

Sounds like a peaceful, mindful time of year there....ahhhh....I am so looking forward to Fall here.
ReplyDeleteI love random! And Scrabble!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love a this and that post...like a little visit to your home. Bubba's rocking that sombrero...
ReplyDeleteI love Scrabble! My husband, not so much - so we don't play it often. Maybe I'll drag it out tonight instead of our usual backgammon and give him a run for his money. Ha ha! Funny about your lunch...I had the same thing yesterday, except with peaches. Love your pooch's little hat - too cute. No, I have not met Benita. I will go over to her blog and meet her now!
ReplyDeleteMr. Comforts and I like to do jigsaw puzzles in front of the fireplace in the winter. Today for lunch we are having pears and blue cheese. I love fruit and cheese.
ReplyDeleteLove your decorations bits. :-)
ReplyDeleteYes I know Benita! She is a Joy!
Blond? But she was a beautiful dark haired girl.... -tiny sigh-
Tessa
Love your random post. Still weird for me to see Annie all grown up! She was so young when you first started blogging. Always love to see pictures of your sweet dog :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day
Jeannette
It's weird for ME to see her all grown up, Jeannette lol

Bubba doesn't understand how great that hat looks on him! What a sweet surprise from your friend.
ReplyDeleteHi Rue,
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures....bits and pieces of life. So glad it is a bit cooler for you.

Looking forward to lighting the fire here too... though it will be a ways off also.
ReplyDeleteLooks like live is just humming along; simple sweet things to bless your life daily.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI like the new partition to hide the trash cans. We have something to hide ours as well.
We are looking forward to cooler days too. We had another hot and humid day in Northern Wisconsin yesterday. The storms are rolling in this morning. I am in hope of some cool Autumn breezes for Friday. :-)
Oh my, Bubba looks adorable! And cheese, apples, and crackers is a favorite among my son and me :) Happy hugs to you Rue!
ReplyDeleteCute photos, Rue. I love that sweet pup of yours and his new hat. It looks like fall is on its way. I like those little pumpkins too. Enjoy your day. Kathi
ReplyDeleteYay, for the cooler temps, it was 95F yesterday, and the nights, are so heavenly, I just sit out and watch the stars! Oh My Word, Rue, Bubba is absolutely adorable! Your lunch of cheese, crackers and nectarines looks really delish! I love Benita, she truly is a sweetheart! Enjoy your cookbooks and your day! =) hugs, Christine
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos...love the fireplace! I so wish it would cool down here ~ still in the high 90's, humidity and heat index 100+. Bubba is adorable! Aren't they just the best companions? Wish I had your lunch right now...I'm starving! :)

Autumnal nesting. Have fun painting the living room Rue! Hugs to Bubba, Kathleen in Az
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I would call it fun ;)
DeleteIt's almost done though!
Hugs to Bubba given ;)

Paint decisions are always hard! I love the little pumpkins. I need more fall but not Halloween decorations. The unfortunate thing is usually my taste is more expensive than my willingness to spend!
ReplyDeleteAwww, that was so sweet of you to mention the cookbooks and such sweet words...thank you....you deserved a big thank you for what you did! If you lived closer, I would have taken you to dinner also! LOVE the sombrero...that is too cute! My snack plate usually looks like yours...cheese, Triscuits and some fruit...LOVE white nectarines...they are the best! Thank you again for the kind words...you are just too sweet! Love and hugs to you!!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet peek into your every day. We have gotten into Scrabble big time here and I actually found a swivel board game for a $1 at a sale. I have met Benita and she is a sweetie-pie. Your doggy is adorable and I like your daughter's hair color. Can't help you with the paint color....I am too indecisive! Still haven't pulled my velvet pumpkins out, but I think it will be soon. Supposed to be 85 here tomorrow. I have to pull out my sleeveless shirts and capris again!
ReplyDeleteYou've had a busy week! I love the first photo... nicely done! And what a sweet gift from Benita! I'll have to go over and meet her! Love the little sombrero, too cute! ~Rhonda
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Bubba is thinking 'hey mommy! I thought househoneys was the nicest in blogland! Or am I confusing that with snarky and sarcastic? Yeah...that's the ticket! Now take this silly hat off of me before I stick Jay Leno on you!' ;)
ReplyDeleteI love fruit and cheese, too. Have you tried bananas and cheese? It was my daddy's favorite, and I like it, too.
ReplyDeleteI am on the lookout for some small white pumpkins, but no luck yet.

We've had temps in the 30's at night. In the morning we turn on our gas heating stove to take the chill out of the air. I love drinking coffee and watching the flames. Not an authentic fireplace like yours, but we enjoy it. Your roses are gorgeous! Hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteYes, Benita is so so lovely to know!! Love the partition for your trash cans. I've wanted one of those for our air conditioner ever since we moved into our house...19 years ago. Nope, still don't have one! Scrabble in front of a fire on a cool evening...perfection!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
that opening picture is beautiful...
ReplyDeletethe light... the crystal...the dark wood and handsome pictures...
an ongoing game... oh my.
loved these little glimpses of your life.
and your daughter is like her mother... a lovely unique style all her own!

ReplyDeleteBubba is so cute in his sombrero. Your lunch looks yummy! I collect cookbooks and these look awesome.
ReplyDeleteGreat partition for the trash cans. My hubby made one too and what a difference. I hope cool nights in front of the fire with the scrabble board will arrive soon.
Have a great Friday. Hugs, cm
Rue, I just love your random posts. Bubba looks too cute in that sombrero, and your daughter's blonde hair is very cool. I smiled at the triscuit plate because that's what I eat for lunch sometimes. You found some orange pumpkins! You know, I like the white pumpkins for Fall, but my real favorite are the orange ones. There's nothing like them.
ReplyDeleteHave a good Friday, Rue.
~Sheri
Love the random pics. I have cheese and fruit for lunch most days. Our 'cooler temps' means we aren't hitting triple digits anymore, we are still hitting 90+ in the afternoons.
ReplyDeleteLast time I saw my niece she had blue hair.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Rue, I really love the picture with the sewing machine and a touch of fall. I love the crisp air and falling leaves and am looking forward to fall. Milena
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I love your home. I think I'll bring the truck to load that awesome antique armoir in the background of the first photo. Looove it!
ReplyDeleteoh poor Bubba! :)
ReplyDeleteoh poor Bubba! :)
ReplyDeletePoor Bubba for sure...he doesn't look very happy? It cooled off last week and then got warm and humid again..I am such a cooler weather person and love having a fire in the fireplace. I bought pumpkins Wednesday at the Farmer's Market. Your home is lovely.
ReplyDeleteBubba looks adorable, albeit not to happy! I finally found mini pumpkins, too, and I agree - can't do too much just yet! Fall will have to wait a bit.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the cool evenings, too. It looks like you've got some tough decisions to make regarding paint color! It usually takes me 3 or 4 tries before I get it right. Bubba looks like he's ready to party in his new sombrero!
ReplyDeleteyour pumpkins look very nice up there on your mantel! I am glad you are having some cooler weather.....its still so hot here in Charleston!! I am ready for Fall! I did go visit your friend's blog........I had never heard of her, but thoroughly enjoyed my visit there!
ReplyDeleteYou are one busy bee, Ms. Rue! It's a good thing you are nourished with the nectar of these sweet nectarines and their appetizing accompaniments, to give you the proper energy you need for all your pretty projects on the go!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!

Lunch looks yummy, Bubba looks puzzled and the finish office - just fab.

I really enjoyed your post - especially the photo of the scrabble board - it looks so inviting in that room - and Bubba with the hat - so cute ... Just a nice cozy post!
ReplyDeleteOh, so are you making a decision for your paint colour?
ReplyDeleteYes, I know Benita and this doesn't surprise me a bit! She called the other day to see how I was doing and offered to come help me anyway she could. I bet if you needed her she would hop on a plane and be there in a jiffy. She is such a dear.
ReplyDeleteAnnie's hair color is beautiful, and Bubba's sombrero is darling. I hope you get some cool mountain nights soon so you can have that fire. I remember when our kids were young how exciting the first fire of autumn was. Sadly my husband converted them to gas logs when the boys left home and there was no one to help him chop wood. Gas logs are convenient but we both miss a wood fire.

ReplyDeleteHappy Autumn Equinox Eve!
Gentle hugs,
Tessa
Oh my goodness, I haven't played Scrabble in years. I think we have it, I might take it out and challenge the hubby :) I must say, Bubba looks adorable in that little hat! He might look unsure, but how adorable! I love it! :)
