Hi!
Thank you all so much for your get well wishes on my last post. You are all so sweet! I swear I'm all better now and I didn't mean to worry anyone by being gone so long, but after I recovered I had to get my house in order.
Anyway, after laying down for a few days, I started cleaning and then started organizing a few things that I'd wanted to change, but hadn't got around to.
I have a few pictures of some changes in the kitchen. Nothing big, but I think it looks better.
I cleared off the top of the fridge, placed an old sign on the wall, found a spot for my little kitchen fan and put the broom, etc, all on one wall.
Here's the before:
Here's the after:
Much better, don't you think?
At the stove I added a match holder.
I use it for lighting my kitchen candle, instead of a lighter.
I organized the cart too.
That green bowl up there was my moms from the 70s.
It's ugly as sin, but it holds a lot of childhood memories :)
Here's the before:
And here's the after:
So, like I said... not big changes, but enough to make me feel better :)
I hope everyone has a beautiful Mother's Day and thank you again!
I'll be back blogging next week and I've got even more to share ;)

Hi Rue, happy that you recovered from your fall. It's always nice to edit and organized the kitchen. I have the week days kitchen towels too. Your moms green bowl reminds me of the 60s-70s colors and I love your pictures above the stove. Kathleen in Az

I wish I could find a match holder. I recall the one from my childhood. And I won't use lighters.

Great, you're feeling better! The fridge does look streamlined for the coming summer months, Rue. I love the American Farm Yard print--with the fish underneath and your new match holder, I love the smell from a match being lighted. Even the plug outlet looks like part of your composition.
ReplyDeleteNeat as a pin, Rue!
Oh my gosh, I LOVE that yellow cart! I remember a red one from my childhood, somewhere. Thanks for that flash from the past! Glad you are feeling better, and YAY you for organizing your kitchen better!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you recovered from your fall, looks like you had someone pretty great taking care of you, love the little guy all snuggled up staying close while you healed. Everything looks great, I've been doing some organizing and redoing myself. Hope you have a great w/k. fondly ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteI like what you did -- the fridge looks more period the new way! I love your broom and such hanging -- that would be so period! Your cart looks better too. I need to do kitchen tweaking as well. I get careless with how I put stuff away -- you've inspired me!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better. I like how you've organized, too. Very inspiring! I'd like to wish you a happy Mother's Day, dear Rue. xxoo
ReplyDeleteIt always feels so good to me to get things organized. You have so many cute things in your kitchen and I love the match holder. I'm glad you're feeling better and I can totally relate to the hubby not being the best housekeeper!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see are feeling better, Rue. Sometimes it's the little changes that make a big impact...I really like that you opened up the fridge.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day!
Small changes are great and I always love to have a peek at your kitchen. Keep feeling better and thank that guy for keeping you from going for the cat food.

It looks fresh. I love the vintage refrigerator and cart.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are feeling better! It's great when we start to feel more ourselves again and start to clean up. I love the changes you have made xx

Even if you have things "perfectly" arranged, it is still nice to change things up occasionally isn't it! Everything looks lovely - before and after!! Glad that you are feeling better! xx
ReplyDeleteSmall changes are the best sometimes...just enough to make it feel fresh, without all the heavy lifting. Happy Mother's Day

Hey, Rue, Happy Mother's Day! Girl you've been busy since recovering! Love the new looks. Very airy and tidy!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear you are feeling much better! Sometimes just puttering around our house and rearranging things and tidying up is just so satisfying, isn't it? I call it "fluffing my nest". Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day!
ReplyDeletePS - I love your yellow kitchen cart! Did you see my "new" vintage kitchen cart? Not sure if you saw this post...so here it is in case you didn't see it:

ReplyDeleteIsn't it something how little changes around the house can make us feel better. I do the same thing! Your changes look great. I love your kitchen and all the colorful things in it. You have an inviting space and one that anyone would feel welcome and comfortable in. I love it! Have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteI would never want to leave your kitchen. I love every nook and cranny and your love-fluffing is adorable and inspiring. Love you Rue!

ReplyDeleteGlad that you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI think our special treasures such as the 'green bowl' should always have a special place in the home.
Hope your week is going well
All the best Jan
Your kitchen is so cute! Having your favorite handy things on the cart by the stove is such a great idea. I love the soft colors of your kitchen. That fridge is adorable!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your kitchen! So cute! And, I love sentimental pieces (like that bowl). Money can't buy memories... Love it all! ;)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are feeling better! I have a yellow Pyrex bowl that was my Mother's from the late 1940's so I know how a bowl can be sentimental! The refrigerator top looks very nice with that sign on top, and your cooking supplies are well organized.
ReplyDeleteMy mother had a similar container for holding matches.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with the yellow cart.
Your kitchen is so warm and welcoming, and 'old fashioned', in a good way. A very good way. :).
ReplyDeleteKeep fluffing. It's therapeutic, and we all love seeing changes, however small.

Rue,
ReplyDeleteI just had to pop over after finding you via Benita's blog, Chasing Quaintness. Sorry to hear you had an accident, but it looks like you are healing. After someone else has been cooking in my kitchen, I find I need to rearrange things once again so I can find them. LOL

Hi Rue,
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better! I love your vintage milk sign! In our new house, we have a breakfast nook, I am thinking about finding some farm fresh vintage signs to hang. I'm with you, I prefer matches to light my candles. For some reason, I have the hardest time lighting and holding a lighter. My kids love Sue's Apple Pan, the pancakes are gigantic and so fluffy, very reasonably priced, and the nicest people working there!
Have a great weekend!
xo Christine
Hi Rue and I'm so glad to hear you're so much better. Your kitchen organizing looks wonderful! I just love how you know how to put together the sweet vintage look. Love your match box. My hubby found me one with a colonial lady on it around 30 years ago and it always hangs in my kitchen with matches for my candles! ;) Love your cart. I just noticed your little yellow exhaust fan over your store and how it matches your cabinets perfectly! :) Thanks for popping in to see me.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Hi Rue, So glad you are feeling better. I just love your kitchen and your organizing looks great. I love being organized so this was a very inspiring post for me. The match box is a special treasure as is your yellow 3 shelf cart. My grandma had one just like it. Great vignette above the fridge. Enjoy the weekend and continue to feel better.
