Hello :)
In case you're wondering where I've been, I had a small accident on Thursday last week.
I'm okay, just sore and bruised.
Let me start at the beginning....
It all started innocently enough that morning, when my mom mentioned that a 1930s home was for sale down the street from me. The listing said it was being remodeled, but from what I had seen on the street, it looked like it was being gutted.
So, I decided to check it out.
That evening I went on a walk with Mini and Bubba, and on the way back, I went to look at the house my mom had mentioned.
First, I looked in the front windows and sadly I was right. All the details were taken out and even the stair railing was gone.
Well, that wasn't enough for me, so I went around the back to see the kitchen. I had a feeling it was gone too, but apparently I like to torture myself.
Soooo....
The construction workers happened to be building a staircase over a ditch, and in order to get a look through the kitchen windows I had to climb it. The problem was they had only built the risers and had left one board in order to step up onto the deck.
The board wasn't attached.
The little voice in my head said not to step up, but did I listen?
No.
As I stepped up, the board broke in two and I fell onto the riser.
Without going into details, let's just say that I couldn't sit for the last few days, and that laying down and standing were my only options.
Even now, I can only sit on pillows and only for about 10 minutes at a time.
In other words, this post took awhile to write.
So the last 4 days consisted of watching tv and laying down.
Bubba clearly enjoyed it.
Lesson to be learned?
Listen to the little voice in your head.

I'm so glad you weren't hurt any worse than you were. Bless your heart and body!
ReplyDeleteYou've been well taken care of and have a nice friend keeping you company as you rest too.
Hope you recover from the pain and bruises soon.

Oh, no! I'm so sorry you fell and hurt your tiny self! Now, how you thought you may have broken your tail bone? I broke mine when I was about 14 - a nasty little guy was spinning me around and let go of me and I fell smack on my bottom. Broke it to heck! If you're not better in a few days you may want to check it out. Now I'm being motherly, so listen to your mother! ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad your honey is taking good care of you.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Bless your heart! A mistake that any of us could have made. I think Bubba doesn't feel too sorry for you. Glad your honey is there to help.
ReplyDeleteOhhh....Rue!!! I actually had my hand over my mouth as I was reading the details of your accident. I am so, so sorry. I can only imagine how much pain you must be in. Are you sure you haven't broken your tailbone or herniated some disks? Just a suggestion, but perhaps you should see a dr. and/or have x-rays. What is that delicious looking dish that your honey made for dinner? Sending you healing thoughts and prayers and a very gentle hug.
ReplyDeleteWhile I am "laid-up" with Siatica, I am leaving this comment..... Tessa was here. :-)
ReplyDeleteSympathy on the pain and suffering - but boy, for the grace of God goes I!!! I thought maybe the injury occurred while pilfering through the trash for what they were removing, thus adding a visit from the police department along with emergency services.
ReplyDeleteOuch! Sounds painful and it looks like you're getting lots of TLC from your Honey and Budda snuggling beside you. Kathleen in Az
ReplyDeleteI'm much better now, Kathleen, but yes, I think they both enjoyed having me stay stationary for awhile ;)

Oh, my! Poor Rue! It seems to be Accident Week in the blogosphere. Diane of Lavender Dreams had an accident Saturday. And you on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteThank God for men who can cook! I have one of those, too. Your honey's snack is so beautifully presented. He really went the extra mile, didn't he?
Be gentle on yourself, dear lady, and get all the rest you can.
Sorry about your accident, Rue! Hope you feel better soon. Your hubby looks very capable in the kitchen...take advantage of being waited on a day or two extra!
ReplyDeleteGlad your doing ok! Could have been a lot worse! Those pics of your dog are hilarious! Hubby looks adorable in his apron ! Sooo cute! Love your fam! Get back on your feet soon! Cindy
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cindy! :)

Oh my! So happy to hear you are OK! No broken bones...maybe a fractured tail bone? You should be well rested at least. I know laying around is torcher to an active person though. Hope you're feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteHi Rue, So sorry you took a fall but thankfully you did not break a bone. Your sweet pooch looks like he is really enjoying your down time. How nice your honey made all the meals. Rest and recoup. and listen to that little voice!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, CM
I'm so sorry you hurt yourself, and I hope you have some improvement soon. xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteOh...so sorry. Awhile you are feeling better...yes, best to listen to that inner voice! ;)
ReplyDeleteI will next time, Donnamae ;)

Oh Wow, Rue, happy to hear you are ok! Looks like you are getting the royal treatment! Feel better soon! xo Christine
ReplyDeleteRest is what you need and your puppy is besides you all the time. Are those homemade chips, they look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYep, he made them from scratch!
DeleteSorry to hear about that -- but rest and all will be well. And what did my Mom say, "curiosity "killed" the cat" -- tsk, tsk!
ReplyDeleteOh no....feel better soon. I love a guy that can cook! Nice to hear he is taking good care of you.
ReplyDeleteJeannette
Thank you, Jeanette! :)

So sorry to hear you are laid up, hope you heal quickly! I imagine it could have been much worse.
ReplyDeleteOh boy. I am so sorry to hear that. The old house purist in you got the better of you. Could've happened to any one of us. Glad you've been in good hands! Btw...love the apron! Awesome. Feel better. xo
ReplyDeleteRue, I am so sorry about your accident. Comfort food will help, as will your honey and Bubba. I hope you improve by the hour--it's alarming that you can't sit, even on pillows. I'm worried about you, girl. Take care, sweet Rue. xxoo
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that you got hurt. Praying you heal quickly. It is so nice that your honey is taking such good care of you.

ReplyDeleteOh Rue, so glad you aren't hurt any worse. I've had those kind of falls where you can't sit and boy does it hurt! nice of your honey to cook and of course for Bubba to suffer along with you!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
Oh Man! I'm so sorry you were injured! :( That stinks. I hope your feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteI was just was checking out your most recent posts... hope The Honey had a great birthday, and I LOVE the green and red!!!!! :)
Have a great week!
~Liz
So sorry you hurt yourself but it will get better! I fell out of the shower (long story) last time I was at my parents. At least I only banged up one side of my 'sitter' but I still couldn't sit on anything hard for awhile.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have someone there to take care of you!
Feel better soon.
So sorry that you are hurt Rue. It looks like you have been well taken care of by your pups and your husband. Hope you are feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I love those pictures of Bub! Too cute! I'm sorry you had an accident Rue, that's horrible. Take it easy, and I hope you feel better :)
ReplyDeleteOh no!! well that is scary!! I hope you are up and around and feeling like yourself real soon! Fast recovery, I wish for you!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like something I would do! Praying that you heal quickly and your sweet Bubba is adorable!
ReplyDeleteWow. Sorry to hear that. I live in an old part of town where the sidewalks are uneven so I am often doing the "air dance" - twirling my arms around and bobbing front to back to keep from falling. Only a couple of minor falls - so far. Be easy on yourself and rest as much as you can. Nothing like a little puppy love to make you feel better.
ReplyDeleteRue...bless your heart! How awful for you! I do hope you are feeling better! No more adventures for you!! ;-) Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you took a fall, Rue. Now it's time to heal. I pulled a muscle in my back years ago lifting something heavy and I was getting back spasms like crazy. Back injuries take so much time to heal. The snack your honey made looks yummy. They look like home made tortilla chips!
ReplyDeleteGet some rest with your dog, a very loyal companion. :~)
~Sheri
Oh, Rue...you poor thing. Hope you're up and about soon...feeling better!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jan ♥
Rue, dear girl, no! I'm so sorry! Of all the crazy things to have happened. It must have scared your Honey to death. I can't imagine how much it must hurt to keep active you down with the pain. But please do be careful while healing. I know you have a million things you want to be doing, but err on the side of caution.
ReplyDeleteSending prayers and best wishes to our old-fashioned girl,
Dewena

ReplyDeleteWell done to 'your honey' for looking after you so well.
Looks like Bubba enjoyed the rest too !
Take Care
All the best Jan
Just stopping by to say you are missed and I hope you're on the mend. xxoo
ReplyDeleteSorry you got hurt, but it sounds like something I would do. Hope you get better soon.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm crushing on Bubba. LOL
So sorry to hear about your accident....I hope you feel better real soon. <3
ReplyDeleteHugs

Awwwwwww...so sorry, but it could have been so much worse. Yes, listening to our instincts is always best. They never fail us.
ReplyDelete(I think Bubba likes the fact you're out of commission. He looks like one happy pooch).
I know I already commented the other day, but just to let you know I'm still thinking about you and hope you're doing OK. I check my blog roll every day to see if there's been an update from you...and since I don't see one, I'm kinda worried. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Rue...are you feeling any better? Hope so! My doggies keep me company too when im sick! They are so comforting aren't they?
ReplyDeleteOUCH !!! :(
ReplyDeleteJust wondering if you are feeling better Rue. I sure hope so
ReplyDeleteJeannette
OK, I'm not replying to Jen, but 47 other friends found where to comment, for whatever reason I could not find it? So I hit reply under Jen:-{. You know I would of done the same thing! I would of had to look then I would of been sad to know they took all the goodness out! So sorry you are hurting, and hope you are well soon. It's good to know Bubba knows good food when he smells it!
DeleteOh oh! I'm late visiting, again, as it has been crazy busy here and I was also recuperating from two weeks of bronchitis that knocked me off my feet. I binge watched a few series on Netflix all week--lol!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were not seriously injured, Rue! Freak accidents happen this way--I have so many stories from my years as an RN
Hope you are all healed by now!
PS: It looks like you gave your guy a really nice birthday!
Bummer about you "butt" accident and I am glad it wasn't serious. I know what its like to want to peek at an old house and be curious. Glad you are healing!
