Last week random

Sweeping...

Mopping...

Cooking...

(recipe found 'here' at my dear friend, Michael's blog Rattlebridge Farm with a MUCH prettier version)

Bubba sleeping...

Shhh... he works so hard ;)

Minor kitchen tinkering...

A clock found by the husband of sweet Jillian has come to live with me, after she subtly mentioned to me that I might want to have it ;)

She also sent along this adorable cup and saucer.

Thank you, Jillian! I love them both :)

She has a blog called Bella Rosa Antiques, an Etsy Shop and an online store.

So, I moved the house blessing picture that was hanging above the phone in the kitchen and placed the clock there...

and mixed it in with the pictures above the stove.

I think it works there, for now ;)

Then there was barbecuing...

Tree gazing...

Bubba lap sitting...

and a gorgeous Sunday sunset...

to top off a long hot week :)

  2. Hello Rue dear, I know I have been MIA way too long. We have had so much company along with Bill's recovery from his hip replacement my time has not been my own. However, it has been a great summer just the same.

Your poor broom made me smile. It has been well used and loved. LOL. Love your Random photos and your posts are always fun and interesting. The cooking sure appealed to me. YUM. Bubba is adorable sleeping in a nest of quilts. You have some wonderful quilts as well.

    Wishing you a happy week.
    Love,
    Jeanne

  6. Hi Rue! Now that is a broom and dust pan! :) Your wood floors look so pretty. This is the first time I've ever had wood floors and didn't know for sure if I should mop them but I don't feel like they get clean if I don't! Sweet little Bubba. You're making that poor little doggy work way too hard! :) That little clock is adorable and was meant for your sweet home.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  7. All good times! I am so jealous of your tall pine trees. I had some in my front yard in TX, and they were so beautiful. Not to mention having all those great pine cones for decorating and putting in the bottom of plant pots. What is it about dogs and quilts? If I put one down for two minutes, a dog is on it!

  25. Precious peek into your week...

And so hope, that this week, will be cooler!!!!

I leave my broom out, all the time. Joyce has her witch brooms, in every room. So I make believe that mine, is my witch broom. :-) But even though I certainly can't fly on it.... (Neither does Joyce think she can. -smile-) But it is more handy out in the kitchen, than way-back-in-the-nook-at-cellar-stairs-landing.

  29. I love the clock. I have to say ~ the cord hanging down makes me smile. And thank you for not trying to mask it in some way or apologize for it being seen. Everyone I knew as I grew up had clocks w/ cords....we just don't see them any more with everything being battery powered. So many blogs have people constantly apologizing for cords showing up in a picture.... seriously?? Wow! They would all shake their heads if they walked through our house. Lamps and TVs and even computers and chargers use cords..... I've never worried about having and using them!! :-) That sweet cord reminded me!

your home is so much fun. i couldn't live there. but i would want to visit every day and have a cup of coffee and see all those TREASURES!! they are treasures. priceless in memories. some personal. but mostly memories of a time we recall in our own hearts that we want to re visit. and at rue's ... we CAN! love and hugs dear bean. xoxo♥

  43. Rue, this looks like and sounds like a perfect week. How many women all over the world ache for such simple home comforts as this? It makes me happy to know that you appreciate your life and your home.

  44. Nice to see some of the behind the scenes of your beautiful home – that this is a real house not just a blog and cleaning actually goes on! Any mopping tips on your lino tiles? Despite common consensus I kept my beloved vintage lino tiles in the bathroom. I tease my mom that I wish she still had her old floor buffer so I could use it!

Do you get some good vintage tunes on for cleaning – it makes it so much more fun and the time to go faster! This week one of my fav cleaning tunes is Wanda Jackson’s Rockabilly version of Tweedle Dee. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXN1_LJpw70 I like fast vintage tunes to clean by - if you do too perhaps you can share some as a feature in one of your Music posts sometime? ~ Kari

    1. Well, I assume there's cleaning going on at their homes too. They just don't share it ;)

I use a scrub brush and a bucket of soap and water and I clean it on my hands and knees. Not a fun job, but it's all that works.

As far as tunes, I listen to my 1920s and 30s ;) Love that song too!

Thank you so much for leaving a comment. It means so much to me that you took the time and I read each and every one. If you don't have a blog, look for a response under your comment. I try to get to them within a few days :)

For some reason, the comment box doesn't always show up, so if you want to leave a comment, replying to someone else's comment seems to work. Also, I've had to switch from safari to chrome in order to comment on blogger, so that might be the issue. If not, you can always reach me via email, located on my side bar. Thank you!
