to look a lot like Christmas around here.
How about at your house?
Are you all finished?
Not even close?
I'm just about done, but it's been slow going. Unfortunately, I came down with the dreaded flu before Thanksgiving and it hit hard right afterwards, but I'm slowly getting better.
This darn thing isn't going to stop me from decorating for my favorite holiday though!
So, I've been coughing, sneezing, drinking tea and trying to fight it off, while dragging out decorations in between.
Anyway, I'm going to get back to it, but before I go, I want to say thank you so very much to my sweet friends, Dewena, Kim, Benita and Tina for your sweet cards and gifts.
I loved each and every single one.
And I love you gals very much too :)
There's something so wonderful about getting surprises in the mail whether it's a card or a package, isn't there?
I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, no matter what you did :)
Be back soon.
xo

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear you've been sick! Seems to be that time of year already - so many people I know have been sick (colds, sinus infection, bronchitis, pneumonia). Ugh. I have Christmas stuff lying all over my living room and it just isn't appealing to me this year. And most of my stuff is red, which doesn't go with anything in my house except for my kitchen - but I don't want to overdo the decorations. So, I'm packing most of it back up to put back into storage! We don't do a full-sized tree either - just a couple of tabletop trees. I hope you feel better soon, Rue.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better soon, Rue. Sounds like the kind of flu that hangs on for awhile. I'm looking forward to seeing your charming home decorated for Christmas...I know it'll be delightful!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Praying for you to get over this crud soon.
ReplyDeleteJack Frost nipping at your nose........ A bit frosty now in Arizona. It's always nice to get pleasant surprises in the mail:) Keep drinking and stay warm, Kathleen in Az
ReplyDeleteI meant keep drinking tea!
DeleteHA! I knew what you ament, Kathleen ;)
DeleteThank you! And stay warm yourself!

DeleteI go in spurts. I'm exhausted trying to get it all done so I can focus on Abi after her surgery tomorrow.

Feel better, sweet Rue!! I came down with the worst flu of my life when I was moving into my new home, it was AWFUL!! All I wanted to do was crawl into bed and stay there but I had to keep packing....keep moving.....and then stand out in an ice storm telling the movers where to go with each piece of furniture as they took it out of the truck. I'll never forget it - I felt like death warmed over!! May I suggest a hot toddy with Irish Whiskey, hot water, a teaspoon of sugar and a slice of lemon studded with cloves....it's an Irish remedy and it seems to work wonders! Big hugs xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi Rue,
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are feeling better. I cannot wait to see your decor happy unleashed. Happy Birthday.
Kris
Rue, I will say a pray for you to get over the crud quickly. It is beginning to look like Christmas here, too. But just barely! I am trying to get the Fall stuff all packed back up and then I think I will be able to focus on Christmas decorating a bit better. OCD, you know!
ReplyDeleteBTW...I'm with Mountain Mama! Heck, that sounds good even without having the crud! ;-)
Grace & Peace
You're not gonna let a little ol flu keep you down, are you? Get to work. Me wanty to see your decorations.
ReplyDelete(And a hot toddy is definitely good for what ails ya).
xxx
Bummer - Hope you are good as new soon! I've got all my trees up and hubby and the kid took care of the outside over the weekend. My house looks like a tornado has been through it - I'm trying to get the rest of the Christmas 'fluff' out while simultaneously putting the fall stuff away and cleaning. This weeks schedule is full so I'm getting nowhere fast. Gotta get it done - baby boy and his bride will be here in 20 days!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Rue, glad you're feeling a bit better. Nothing can stop Christmas decorating when it's a favorite, right??. Looking forward to seeing your home all decked out for the holiday. Glad you enjoyed a nice birthday too. xo
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that you've been ill but glad you are feeling better. I'm starting to get in the mood to decorate. :-)
ReplyDeleteMay you be all better soon, have fun finishing up your decorating and I look forward to pictures.
Love, hugs & prayers ~ FlowerLady
Happy Birthday!!(belated!) Oh, how yucky to be sick around a holiday. You have a month to get better before the next holiday rolls around! I have started decorating and are probably done since I am only doing a quarter of what I usually do. Now we just need some snow to put us all in the Christmas mood!
ReplyDeleteRue, I hope you are starting to feel better. I've still got the cough going on. I have most of the Christmas up or stacked here and there waiting for placement! I'm enjoying the decorations so far, but still thinking I need to downsize even more.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
It is looking like Christmas there .... such a sweet little snowman.
ReplyDeleteNice to know that you are feeling better. Hope you feel 100% soon!
Darling and thoughtful gifts from some of your friends.
What a nice gesture.
Keep getting better and have fun decorating.
~K.
Well, you are way ahead of me, Rue! I have not done anything inside-although I did do quite a bit of decorating outside- lots of lights and greenery up. The house looks lovely at night---onward to the inside this week. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI finally got most of my family over on Sunday for Thanksgiving. So I am still working on putting Autumn to bed. I did set up my Christmas Village today with help from my grandsons aged 3, 17 months and 14 months. So far I have not had to grab the Super Glue.
ReplyDeleteI am just starting my decorating. Slower than normal for me. Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you aren't up to snuff! But your putting Christmas decorations out...that would make me feel better too. I've only put up a few wreaths so far....I'm sure my Christmas spirit will kick in soon! ;)
ReplyDeleteIt took awhile for mine to kick in here too, Donnamae, but it's getting there :)

ReplyDeletei once had the flu and a high temperature with it. i was given a hot toddy.
i had never drunk one before so didn't know what to expect!
it was delicious.
the fever broke and i literally got better faster! now i swear by hot toddies for flu.
just rest dearest bean. hibernation is good for getting rid of flu bugs too! XOXO♥
Moving slow with my decorations, too. Mostly done, but doing a bit of tweaking...and culling. Feel better!! :) xo
ReplyDeleteSorry you've been under the weather. Hoping you are back to yourself soon! Looking forward to seeing your decor!
ReplyDeleteAn old fashioned remedy I think you will enjoy comes to mind - hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThree little children layin' in the bed
Two were sick and the other 'most dead
Sent for the doctor, the doctor said

I hope you're feeling better so you can enjoy this wonderful time of year! I've had my computer off while I've been decorating, because I get overwhelmed with all the home tours before I've even unpacked my decorations. I hope to get it all done soon so I can sit back and enjoy it all! We're even getting a few inches of snow to celebrate the season. Woo hoo!
ReplyDeleteLove the little ditty in the comment above!
That cute ditty is a verse from a song that started 115 yrs ago – Shortnin’ Bread – I love that song you just can’t help but feel better listening to it!
DeleteGet Well Soon.

How fun to have surprises from blog buddies. :-))
Hey, Rue. Sorry to hear you have been down for the count. I had the dreaded bug back in October for 4 entire weeks, and then it hit again worse a few days ago. I give you credit for plowing away through it to get your Christmas decorations going. I know if I put it off it just isn't as fun.
ReplyDeleteI hope to get around more often, there just aren't enough hours in the day to get things done and still have time to relax.
Feel better.
Jane x
I am glad you are starting to feel better. The flu is so awful this time of year! Especially when we have fun things to do. Love and hugs sweet friend. Take care of yourself and stay rested so you don't have a relapse!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get my decorating done, too...it's taken me awhile, as the flu/cold I picked up several weeks ago has taken forever to leave. Hope you are feeling better SOON!
ReplyDeleteIt looks sweet so far, and I hope you all feel well soon. We have been sick here too since November 20. Whatever we caught here lingers with a cough and sleepless nights. So, there are a few festive touches, but the tree is not up, nor the lights, or the stable. xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteI just started my decorating yesterday and will finish today. We downsized a few years ago with decorating. I think it is my age that is making it slower to put up what we do have. HA! HA!
ReplyDeleteHow can it be December already? Time flies. Anyway, I'm sending you a cup of lemon-ginger tea, it is my cure for all things. And a hug. A hug never hurts.

I hope that you are feeling better. I got the stomach flue for Thanksgiving and couldn't even stand the smell of turkey. lol Stop over on the 9th for a Christmas sharing linky party. I would love to have you share your decor. Cheers! Jo
ReplyDeleteHi Rue, Glad that you are feeling better. I can't wait to see your decorated house! Milena
ReplyDeleteso sorry about the flu!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteno fair!!!!!!

Enjoy your Christmas preparations! xx
ReplyDeleteI love your Christmas decorations Rue! I'm moving slowly on mine too, but I'm hoping to add a few more additions to my house after today. I'm heading to my favorite craft store :-) I hope you had an awesome Thanksgiving, and Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteHopin you feel better so you can really enjoy decorating. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteBummer you got the flu, but I am glad you are able to decorate!
ReplyDeleteI'm just getting started on mine; I think I'm going to keep it pretty simple this year. I hope you feel better soon. I know how miserable it is to be sick over the holidays.
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon Rue, I am so sorry to hear you have been unwell, unfortunately it's that time of year. I hope you manage to shake off the flu and are feeling better very soon.
ReplyDeleteNow, Christmas decorations... mine are still boxed, but they have been taken down from the loft and are sitting waiting patiently in my sewing room, ready to be unwrapped.... and that is going to happen on Saturday, which I am very excited about.
I love Christmas time and I love the memories which come flooding back each time I unwrap one of my Christmas decorations.... roll on Saturday.
Best Wishes
Daphne
Get well soon dear Rue!!!hope youre feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI haven't even started because we have two rooms of furniture stacked into one so we could have a new wood floor put in our t.v. room. Hope you feel much better soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm done with the decorating, just need to finish a little bit of shopping! Love Christmas... wish it lasted longer! :) Hope you're feeling better! So sorry you've been sick, and the flu at that... bless your heart! ~Rhonda
ReplyDeleteMy husband put up the outdoor lights but I have not decorated AT ALL indoors. I get later and later with it every year. It's not that I don't like decorating, it's more that I don't like taking things down and putting them away come January. Guess it's my age just having caught up with me. xox
ReplyDeleteWell I'm completely done but that doesn't mean that I won't continue to move things around for the next month. Plus I'll be making new things that need to find a home. Take is easy on yourself! That flu is no joke.
ReplyDeleteOh no, the flu! Are you feeling better now? I hope so. R.H. has been sick all week with what he says is just a bad cold but I'd sure hate to be his nursemaid if he came down with the flu. I love your picture with the quirky little snowman next to the wonderful stack of old books! I'm trying to get the house dressed for Christmas but am so slow and now I remember last year vowing to begin in November, which did not happen. But everything that's really important will get done in time, won't it, Rue?
ReplyDeleteYou take care, sweet old-fashioned girl,
Dewena
Rue the snowman with the upturned carrot nose next to the Stack of vintage books is all I would ever need for feeling the magic of the season.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Vera
Yikes I was not done with my comment. I am sending you healing wishes, eat soup!!! Hope you feel much better soon.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Vera
Hope you are doing better. I've been decorating today. Almost done - love the snow man.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you have not been feeling too well ... sending lots of get well soon wishes your way.
ReplyDeleteI love your snowman - I must start getting the Christmas decorations / ornaments sorted !
Hope you feel better soon.
All the best Jan
