My 100th post

I had a different post lined up for today.

That was until I realized that this would be my 100th post.

When I saw that number it seemed very small, but very big at the same time.

I thought back to that December day when I realized I wanted to come back...

My life had changed so much since I had blogged last time and Blogland had gone on without me.

To anyone else, 100 posts wouldn't be that big of a deal.

But to me...

 this is a milestone.

A big one.

When I started to write my first post I was nervous and I didn't know what to do, so I wrote...

I had no idea what would happen.

It was so weird to write to a non-existent audience.

It had been around three or four years since I left and I was worried that no one would remember me, so I didn't comment anywhere.

I didn't know what to say to those friends that I'd left behind.

In fact, as soon as I finished that first post and clicked on publish, I thought that I had made a mistake.

I was wrong.

No one knew I was here for four days and then I got a comment.

It was from Kim.

Tears came to my eyes.

Then eventually all of you started leaving comments and I was overwhelmed with happiness.

I was no longer writing to myself, like I thought I would be.

To those of you that are new, that have become my friends, and those of you that are my dear old friends...

I want to thank you so much for coming along on my new journey.

You have no idea what it means to me that I have been welcomed back with a joy that I didn't think would ever come when I started up again.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

From the bottom of my heart.

It means so much to me that I still have a place here and that you care.

It really truly does.

  1. Congratulations on your 100th post, Rue! I know when I thought you were back, I had to come check it out and make sure! I was so happy to see you again! I think we {a collective "we" here} tend to think we'll be forgotten...or worse yet, rejected for having just left our blog and continued our lives without a post for a very long time. But, I've found that people are always willing to welcome everyone - new and old friends alike...when they return to blogland. It's just wonderful to finally see an old friend and find out what they've been up to!! This time it's YOU.

    Hugs,
    Jan ♥

  5. Good morning back Rue...only it is the next morning. LOL.It is 2:30 am and I am awake because Bill had a hip replacement last Weds. and just came home Monday evening. One more thing to add to all that is going on here. He needs help getting in and out of bed. He is doing well now but had issues with pain meds so he spent 3 extra days in the hospital. Sigh!

I was glad when I read your post and I am really happy that you are posting again. 100 posts is worthy of celebrating. Especially when you are back to sharing your life after a long break. Your blog friendship meant a lot to me and I missed you very much.

Love your snow pics and especially your cute pup. Life just happens sometimes to all of us. I took a six months break last year. I admit I am not posting as much now but I hate to give it up completely. Blogging is kind of a journal for me.

Well, I should try to get some sleep.

    Love, Jeanne

  8. Rue, I didn't know you "before," but when I started my blog in January of this year, you were one of the very first people to leave a comment on one of my posts -- and it was so sweet and encouraging, I had to immediately go to your blog to see who you were and what you were about. I've been following you ever since. I love your blog. You have a very distinct point of view. Congrats on the first 100 this time around. Looking forward to the next 1,000. :)

  11. Dear Sweet Rue, I'm so glad our Gloria told me you were blogging again. I have so many fond memories of your posts from the RMS days. Your beautiful posts then touched my heart, your posts today touch my heart even more. You are truly one of the kindest people I know. I can imagine us sitting on your veranda or my front porch for hours visiting the hours away. You always bring us right into the fold of your posts. Congratulations of having 100 posts, it is a milestone. I'm looking forward to more. fondly ~lynne~

  17. Another similarity between the two of us - Dear Daisy Cottage was one of the first I read and one of the reasons I began blogging.

You were away from blogging when I began, but I am so glad that you came back.

    Congratulations on 100 posts.

  18. Congratulations! On your 100th post! And you've become one of my favs -- because you're real -- no Home Goods/Maxx stuff bought just to stick here and there around the house -- it's you and if you buy it it's because you like it not because you feel that you want something different! I'm giving up on a lot of those Martha Stewart Magazine wannabes. Only reading real blogs like yours and like what I feel mine is!

  24. I'm glad I've been able to get to know you better, Rue. I felt so bad seeing you leave the blogosphere so soon after I had found you. I kept your blog on my feed reader for years, hoping you'd come back. Then I saw that you had deleted it when I checked on you, and I removed your blog sadly from my feed. But now, happily, I am getting to know you in your new life and I'm glad you're back!

  25. I'm a newbie! I felt the same way with my first post, but it took much longer than 4 days for someone to see that I was around...LOL. I'm so glad you noticed me and my blog! AND I'm so glad we met!! I love reading your posts...they are honest, heart-warming, beautiful and encouraging....just like you! Happy 100th! Hugs!!!

  26. Your 100th post, that's great! Rue, I'm so glad to have found you in blog land. That is really a cool picture of your house with all the snow. I didn't realize it snowed in Arizona. Thanks again, Rue, for the rainbow. I look forward to more of your sweet posts.

  27. Rue,
Happy 100th!!! I missed you the first time around but have been on board since you came back. Enjoy your homey good old ways of living!!! Me too!!! I am all for that.
I must ask, could you tell us what city or county you live in, in Arizona? I know you've said North /mountain area. When I think of Arizona...I think EXTREME heat and dry. Never snow!!! You seem to have pleasant weather...much like my Bay Area, California. Do you have humidity ? Or course, everyone will have an occasional heat wave.....does it stay pleasant during summer...for the most part? Is your whole town made up of those darling older homes like yours?
Thanks for any answers!!! AND let's win the war on painting antique furniture!!!

    1. Hi Addie :)

I live over 5500 feet above Phoenix, which is why we get that kind of weather. No offense to anyone, I hope, but I won't say exactly where, because I actually had people driving by my last house when they figured out where I lived and were taking pictures. I already get enough of that now, because my house is so different. One time during Christmas, a woman dressed as Mrs. Claus got out of her car and started taking pictures, while Santa sat and waited. Now that was something! LOL

I live in the historic district, so there are a lot of other older homes around me, but there are also other neighborhoods with new homes. There's something for everyone here :)

Our weather isn't anything like Northern California. I lived in Pebble Beach years back and have vacationed up in your area several times, so I know what that's like. It's more in lines with the lower parts of Ohio where I lived for about 7 years. In fact, it's the same Zone, if I remember. We have less humidity though, although we do get some during monsoon season. For the most part it's pretty pleasant during the summer, with temperatures hovering between 80 and 90. Nothing like the southern part. I couldn't handle living down there :)

    2. Thank you so much for answering. I totally get it, on not saying the exact city in which you live. I always thought all of Arizona was a scorcher....glad you have the pleasant!!!
Too funny on Mrs. Claus...but still creepy!!!!
      Have a good one!!!

There may be some validity however I will take hold opinion till I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we would like more! Added to FeedBurner as nicely casino online

Thank you so much for leaving a comment. It means so much to me that you took the time and I read each and every one. If you don't have a blog, look for a response under your comment. I try to get to them within a few days :)

For some reason, the comment box doesn't always show up, so if you want to leave a comment, replying to someone else's comment seems to work. Also, I've had to switch from safari to chrome in order to comment on blogger, so that might be the issue. If not, you can always reach me via email, located on my side bar. Thank you!
