Since my computer went down right before the holidays, I though I'd catch you up on the goings on here.
Christmas was lovely.
But it was Annie's last Christmas living at home, so it was also bittersweet.
I acquired a vintage roaster from the 50s, just in time to make a beautiful turkey for Christmas dinner.
It worked!
Browned that puppy right up and happened to be the best turkey I've ever made :)
Who gets excited about a roaster?
This girl!
We went on a couple of ghost town trips (which I'll post about later).
And there's been a few projects around here, like putting the kitchen door back where it belongs...
and a few other things ;)
All of which i'll get into detail about later.
I'd get into it now but, you'd be here awhile, so you have to wait ;)
Be back soon!
xo

Love your "new" roaster--they don't make them like that anymore. Are you and I the only ones who like the kitchen as its own room with a door? All this Open Concept--who wants to smell last night's dinner all the next day. Looking forward to seeing what you're doing to the house.
ReplyDeleteThx for sharing...and what a great find! It's funny, but I just so happened to purchase a new rice steamer this morning. Hehehe. It works fine and does the job but I like yours so much better!

So happy to see a new post! Can't wait to read about your projects! :) Looks like you had a wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteNice to see you post...Your Christmas sounds wonderful. I am looking forward to what else is going on.
ReplyDeleteLove your gorgeous photos and home. You are such an artist. That Christmas centerpiece is incredible!
ReplyDeleteI'd be darned excited about that roaster, too. I've always wanted one. Yours looks like it is in beautiful condition. In the northwoods of Wisconsin, in my younger days, all the Wisconsin taverns had those and still used them.
ReplyDeleteYour house reminds me of mine, Rue. We are kindred spirits.

Hi Rue,
ReplyDeleteChristmas full of family and pups, perfection:). Road trips, sweet! The roaster still works? Wow! Yep,don't make them like they use to. Downstairs project or Annie's room? I hope Annie is doing well and you too Mom:).

I got my Hamilton Beech roaster a dozen or so years ago (new), and it's well built and works great, but I love the styling of yours. It suits your home (and you!) so well. I'm excited to see your projects and the ghost town stories.
ReplyDeleteAhh the roaster. Brings back memories. Glad it made a wonderful Turkey for your Holiday dinner.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your projects.
Hugs,
Kris
What a great roaster! Looking forward to seeing your projects!
ReplyDeleteSo good to read this 'catch up' post from you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great roaster! So glad it worked and that your turkey turned out wonderful.
Oh my, you've got projects going on too. I look forward to seeing how it all turns out at your place.
Have a lovely Sunday ~ Love & hugs ~ FlowerLady
Glad you had a lovely Christmas. I can't wait to see your new project! I love a good project and yours always turn out wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteHope to see you around blog land again soon.
I just came across your blog....you are a lovely story teller. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
ReplyDeleteIn my move to eastern Washington I downsized and gave my roaster away...it had the original stand that came with it. Can you tell I still miss it?
Hi Rue! Nice to see you again!
ReplyDeleteThat roaster is neat. Glad it worked out so well - kinda nice not heating up the entire kitchen making the bird. I see those now and then - kinda fun to know it worked out so well for you.
Can't wait to see what's in store over there in your sweet vintage world. Hugs.
Looks like you are very busy. Can't wait to see all of your finished projects. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a very Merry Christmas!! xo
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun Christmas...love the roaster, too!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed hearing from you again and getting a little catch-up. I can't wait to see what you're up to in your house!
ReplyDeleteNice to catch up on your doings, Rue. I like that piece of vintage wall paper peeking through, the little wallpaper that could.

I'm so sad thinking of your daughter moving out.....because I'm so sad thinking of the day my daughter moves out! Glad things are well with you, I've missed reading your posts. Hugs, friend!! xo
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to catch up! Hope to hear more very soon.
ReplyDeleteTake care
Jeannette
Good to hear from you, Rue. I can't wait to see more of your new projects.
ReplyDeleteLove the kitchen door. Always loved a totally separate kitchen idea and never liked the open concept too much.
ReplyDeleteHappy roasting in your marvelous roaster. Looks almost new.
It will be exciting to see what you are up to :).
I’m glad you are back Rue! I’m looking forward to hearing all about your projects.

I've missed you, and glad you are back! Christmas seems so far away now, but it really wasn't! How exciting to get a roaster for Christmas, and to make good use of it too! Looks like you have a lot of projects going on, always exciting! Will look forward to your updates as you get to them :)
ReplyDeleteHi girl! I'm glad things are going well. I know about those bittersweet holidays as our kids grow up. It's kinda hard.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are super busy at your cottage. Can't wait to see exactly what you are up to.
Nice to see a new post from you :)
ReplyDeleteI know that it is hard when the kids move out but take it from me... lol . ENJOY IT. It is just a very small space in time for you. Before you can acclimate / blink an eye..there will be a new family and grandkids and whatever you did to make your place nice or what-have-you will now undergo the same thing that you went through when your kids were little :) In other words, it will all get ruined again ha ha ! :)
I have serious "dish envy". Welcome back my friend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your photographs ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I am so glad that you are back to blogging. I have jumped over to your blog several times to be sure I was not missing anything. So glad you had a great Christmas....wow, to say that now seems like so long ago! haha
