I was in the shower yesterday morning, when I heard Bubba and Mini suddenly howling and barking like someone was breaking in the house.
It was early, so I knew it couldn't be anyone I knew at the door, but because they were losing their minds, I thought I'd better check it out.
I jumped out, threw on my robe and saw this....
It turns out that I had an unexpected breakfast guest.
"Oh hi."
Yes, apparently deers love birdseed too.
That was when I decided it might be a good idea to move the birdseed onto a table inside the porch walls.
She's awful cute with that seed on her nose though, isn't she?

Extremely cute! So glad you had a camera nearby.

What a cutie, even with the seed on her nose. I never seem to have my camera ready!
ReplyDeleteAwwww.... what a nice 'good morning' for you!
ReplyDeleteOh how cute! A deer buffet. :)
ReplyDeleteWe know that our bird seeds have turned into a raccoon and opossum buffet before but we don't have deer here in our area. I know they can be a nuisance but I still love them.
You caught some great pictures Rue! What a reason to take a 'quick shower'! Have a great weekend.

So cute! What a sweet visitor. Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteAww. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteShe is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteShe is so cute. Sometimes we have deer in our backyard too.
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute! They get outside my front window eating the grass all the time and Charlie just twitches like crazy.
ReplyDeleteBubba is a good watchdog!
ReplyDeleteYikes. I know she's cute and all, but I don't think I'd want a deer that close to my door.
ReplyDeleteExactly what I thought!
DeleteRue, adorable footage for your own Disney short, ''Bambi's Birdseed Breakfast'! TOO cute!
ReplyDeletePoppy
What a neat surprise visitor.

I can't believe she didn't run away with the dogs barking and camera flashing...she looks like she's posing! Must've had some really good birdseed in there! ;)
ReplyDeleteToo cute! I love deer, they are just adorable. I always leave my old produce (greens, carrots, lettuce, etc) in the back 40 for the deer. They always come and eat it :) What's funny is they wouldn't come to my garden last year, I think because it's too close to the house. But our back fence is a good 100 yards from the house, they'll go there to eat. Good for my garden! Hope you're having a great weekend Rue!
ReplyDeleteoh my!
ReplyDeleteit seems a little sad though, that she is so unafraid of humans...... another season and she will not be safe....
Tessa
How adorable! Very nice shots Rue! She's definitely not camera shy! :) My grandmother has had a few deer walk down the access road that runs along her back fence. They stop to pose, and continue on their merry way! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! She should be able to find lots of snacks in the wild soon, but I suppose the birdseed was just too tempting. We don't have any deer visiting us on a busy street, but I'm enjoying watching the antics of our resident squirrels....until they start digging out my flowers, that is. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet, beautiful baby! She is so pretty. I can't believe the dogs barking didn't scare her off.
ReplyDeleteWho knew deer ate birdseed? She's absolutely beautiful, and I'm so glad you were able to take pictures to share with us.
ReplyDeleteOh, breathtaking! I could stare at that photo all day! I love when deer head out into the pasture behind our house. There's something so serene and peaceful about them. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNice shot - very cute indeed. I've had deer in my backyard as well, but they preferred to eat my very young and tender shrubs...
ReplyDeleteJeannette
Oh... that's not good!
DeleteSuch a pretty girl!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and you got some great shots. Love this!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, CM
Great pix of the deer...and I love the birdseed on her nose!
ReplyDeleteAwe, how sweet!
ReplyDeleteShe's precious!! How fortuitous that you had your camera on hand. Great pics :)

ReplyDeleteShe's a mule deer. And she will come right up on your front porch. :)
