Music Break 3

I had a different song picked out for today, but when I went to write the post, this is the only one that called to my heart, after the news this morning.

It's a song of hope, a song of dreams, and it's a song beautifully sung by the one and only Judy Garland.

Many people have covered this, but her version is timeless and it eventually became her signature song.

The music is by Harold Arien and the lyrics were written by Yip Harburg (who ironically wrote the other song I was going to post today).

God Bless the families of the Marines that died today.

PS
I'll be visiting and answering questions tomorrow.

Today just isn't the day.

I hope you understand.

  2. A haunting and yearning song, sung only by Judy Garland. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas is another one too. I do understand and God Bless our Marines and their families. And the people that witnessed this tragedy.

  3. I just don't understand why people who are full of hate and misery need to hurt others. It is so heartbreaking!

  4. Thank you so much for the beautiful song, Rue. My father was a Marine who fought in WWII and Korea, then served as a USMC Reservist for many years. I am shocked and saddened by the hateful attacks yesterday. Love and prayers for the families, and may the fallen Rest In Peace.

  5. More horrors, in the news..............

What more is there to say?

Because if I let myself say more, I will raise my blood pressure. And I am way too old, to do that, anymore. I used to. I did. But now, I have to be a perfect ostrich. -sigh-

but in light of the senseless loss of yesterday... no words.
as i write this ... in our own city we have had a shooting today outside one of our hospitals. a hospital!
a place of healing. a stupid SHOOTING. i honestly don't know what is happening in our country. it's unthinkable.

  13. Rue, whenever I hear this song, it touches my heart so much. A favorite of mine, and somewhere over the rainbow is where all our dreams come true, so let's keep hoping and dreaming, shall we?

  14. Music does help. We've gotten so much of the Chattanooga local news here of course and I admire so much the spirit of love and support that Chattanooga's people are showing for the families of the victims.

  18. A very good song choice Rue.

My thoughts to all who have been affected by this terrible event. Our world is not always in a good place and it is important to remember and reflect.

    All the best Jan

Thank you so much for leaving a comment. It means so much to me that you took the time and I read each and every one. If you don't have a blog, look for a response under your comment. I try to get to them within a few days :)

For some reason, the comment box doesn't always show up, so if you want to leave a comment, replying to someone else's comment seems to work. Also, I've had to switch from safari to chrome in order to comment on blogger, so that might be the issue. If not, you can always reach me via email, located on my side bar. Thank you!
