A trip to the fair

I love going to the fair.

Big, small, it doesn't matter.

I've been to the local one in each place I've lived, but I think my favorite one so far is The Pima County Fair, here in Arizona.

Via google images

I went there a few weeks ago and had a great time.

It was HOT, but so worth it.

We had fun looking at antique farm equipment:

checking out all the animals and feeding some goats...

and of course, there was lots of eating!

No pictures of that though.

I don't think you needed a picture of us stuffing our faces ;)

Of course, we went there for all those things, but mostly we went to see country music star Josh Turner.

The concert was free to all those that paid to get in, so we just settled ourselves on the lawn, in front of the stage and enjoyed the show.

If he happens to come to your town, and you like country music, I highly recommend going to see him.

PS

Thank you so much for all your sweet words on my last post.
You all are the best :)

  2. I'm glad you guys had such a great time. I have not been able to make myself go to a fair since I worked on that investigative piece regarding the two young girls who were kidnapped from a state fair here years ago. I'm not much for big crowds anyway.

  5. I love our Mountain Fair too, it is in September. It is a rural thing that I love - seeing the chickens and the rabbits, the Moo-ternity ward, watching the kids dance competitions, entering the crafting and quilting competitions, and having a funnel cake or chicken and waffle is an annual tradition!

  6. I love fair time! I'm lucky to live so close to different county fairs so there is always one to go to during the summer. We usually enter vegetables and some home ec items to be judged. Glad you had a nice time. (You look so cute going to the fair. I like the handbag you were carrying). Milena

  8. I love fairs, too though haven't been to one in several years. Wisconsin (we live near the border) has the best ones. I'm not into country music so I don't know who that singer is, but he sure is handsome. ;-)

  9. What a fun time!!!!!

You, with your pony tail, and pretty cotton dress.... It brings to mind, 'Sandy' in 'Grease.'

You two are just the cutest. You bring a smile to my face.

Lots and lots of gentle hugs,

  10. I used to love fairs but don't go very often. We did go a couple of years ago to see the bald eagle on display that year. Amazing bird to see up close! I always loved fair food, too. :)
Glad you had a good time, you and your honey look so cute together!
Have a wonderful weekend! xx Cheryl

  17. catching up with you again old bean!
I have to admit... when I was in your blog last time a hacker attacked me and it scared me from coming back. it was when I followed a link in the post as I recall. BUT when I took it to the best buy's geek squad they said it's not a virus it's a scam hacker that takes your computer hostage. it didn't matter what I was in. that's not what caused it.
you are just dead in the water! AND... it's the same group that is hacking systems all over the world. most recently the National Health System in the UK. they had to shut down all their hospitals! they choose you at random apparently and if you're in a site it doesn't affect the site you're in it only affects your own computer!
if it happens to you... whatever you do... DO NOT call the toll free number. they claim to be with Microsoft and of course they're NOT! just immediately unplug it. and then take it to be fixed! you can't get rid of it any other way. they just take over.
as usual... wonderful posts that I had missed. and one was very gutsy girl! you GO! cosy and lived in and real will beat a magazine cover anytime. xo♥ sorry for the overlong comment. what else is new? LOL!

  18. When I was little I recall going to "the fair" with my grandfather and he loved the marching bands

When I was a teenager it was all about the rides and meeting friends...

Later on taking my own kids to the fair ( a different one in the county at the time ) it was all about the goats and horses

And lol..that is still the same for me : )

One last memory...I stayed in Waynesburg PA for a week with a relative and rode a double ferris wheel with my cousin and went into a mild panic mode...too high! : )

Thanks for this post that took me down memory lane.

  21. What a fun day! I love fairs, though our local county fair won't be until the end of summer.
How fun to see Josh Turner. He has a great voice, and reminds me of a young Randy Travis, in some ways. I love "Long Black Train'. I just bought a cd of his at the thrift store the other day.
You and your love are so cute! You look so happy!!

    Have a great new week.

  27. Last fair I went to I was in high school and we had to because I played piccolo in the band.
Funny I really really just hate being hot, I don't like dust, crowds, animals much and junk food - so I am not much into fairs and zoos and such. I live in our state capital and have been told the State Fair and the Columbus Zoo (voted USa's #1 zoo year after year agter year) which is only just ten minutes from my house is nice......lol...maybe if you and your beau ever care to get out of the heart of Arizona and visit you can tell me all about it. LOL. Seriously, I've never been there.

As for the music - I am a Yankee so don't know much about country music, but I am a choir singer and loved the deep bass vocals of Josh Turner - he is amazing! What a talent to get a free concert to see! Well I enjoyed the videos of the Why Don't We Just Dance - so perhaps you two started off loving that one....but Would You Go With Me is wonderful love song. And Long Black Train has such a great message! By the way John resembles Josh more than a little bit! (Both are so handsome!)

Thanks for sharing - I smiled a lot reading it, Rue. Hugs. ♥

  31. Such a wonderful time to go to the county fairs! Sweet pictures of both of you! How wonderful that you got to hear Josh Turner in person, what an amazing voice he has. I imagine that your favorite song is "Would You Go With Me?"... I love that song, so beautiful! I too feel the pain of Manchester, just so so so unbelievably sad. Praying for the hurting people in Manchester. Hugs to you today dear friend :)

Thank you so much for leaving a comment. It means so much to me that you took the time and I read each and every one. If you don't have a blog, look for a response under your comment. I try to get to them within a few days :)

For some reason, the comment box doesn't always show up, so if you want to leave a comment, replying to someone else's comment seems to work. Also, I've had to switch from safari to chrome in order to comment on blogger, so that might be the issue. If not, you can always reach me via email, located on my side bar. Thank you!
