Lunch

My regular lunch lately.

Muscat Grapes, Cheddar Cheese and Salt & Vinegar Kettle chips.

I blame my daughter for introducing me to those chips.

Talk about addicting!

I go through phases and eat the same lunch everyday for a week or more.

I also have Noosa or Liberte yogurt every morning with my coffee, which I've been doing for about a year.

Before that it was two poached eggs on toast for about two years.

Is that odd?

Probably, but I'm okay with that ;)

I do change up my dinner nightly though.

So anyway, I have a question...

What do you eat for lunch?

Do you go through phases like me or do eat something different everyday?

Just curious :)

Bubba is blushing from all your sweet comments and says "thank you" ;)

  1. I do the same thing! I accredit it to not having to think ~ or make any decisions. No thinking involved works for me for lunch!! Yours looks like one I may want to try. I am new to your blog since I (think) I saw Brenda say you were back from a blogging break. I am not a blogger, merely a reader, and I love your posts and look forward to each one. Your home and your yard are just charming!!

    1. Thank you so much for your visit, Chris! I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you, but since my accident I've been playing catch up.

      Nice to "meet" you :)

  2. Lunch, when I have it, is a light affair. Some cheese, or ham, hard boiled eggs, perhaps a small salad.

Breakfast is always a cooked one e.g. ham and eggs, bacon and eggs, a frittata ..... but always with a cup of tea.

    All the best Jan

  3. When I am working from home, it is usually leftovers if we have any. I am terrible about packing a lunch when I am on the road, so usually whatever is I find along the way. My husband however is in construction and has packed his lunch box the same way every day for as long as I've known him (7 years). A hard boiled egg, yogurt (has to be the original yoplait, he won't touch anything else) and granola bar for morning break. Sandwich (75% ham, the rest usually turkey with american cheese, mustard and mayo), string cheese and fruit snacks. 2 Mountain Dews and 2 water bottles (and a two gallon jug of water during the summer). He used to bring pudding cups too, but his jeans were getting tight... so he dropped it. He eats like he is still a kid! I have tried to upgrade his lunch, but no dice!

  4. Funny...I do the same thing. I guess because I don't want to think first thing in the morning...I have yogurt and coffee too. Sometimes fresh fruit...if I've taken the time to make a fruit salad. For lunch...usually something light...and crackers. Again...preparing dinner can sometimes be a production, so I really don't want to fuss for lunch! It'll be interesting to read the comments me thinks! ;)

  5. I usually have leftovers for lunch. When I worked, it was a scoop of tuna salad and green grapes, no bread, ever.

  6. Hey, Rue! I'm a potato chip fiend! Don't tell me about those crispy, delicious-looking chips! I'm not listening! Lalalalalala!

    Heh heh.

For breakfast I usually switch things up weekly. I like eggs and sausage or eggs and hash browns. Sometimes gf toast. and egg. Pretty much eggs and something! For lunch I usually eat whatever leftovers I can find. But I like your lunch and might try that one! Dinner is either something new or leftovers if we have a lot.

But this week I ate a lot of soup and skipped breakfast! But my hubby was out of town and everything was different. :- /

  7. My lunch tends to be pretty much the same daily. I recently gave up flour for a second time so no bread, no chips. I have sliced chicken or ham, sliced cheese, nuts and a piece of fruit. Sometimes I will make a salad, but it is more work.

  8. I eat those Liberte yogurts for breakfast every day. That's so funny. I mix them up with Special K cereal instead of milk, but I only eat the blueberry or vanilla flavors. They are really hard to get in my area, so when I find them, I buy the store out and my family knows not to touch them. So yeah, I totally get the "same meal every day" thing...

  9. My husband takes 2 baloney sandwiches with mustard on white bread, one bag of chips, two chocolate chip granola bars, 1 bag of mini muffins and a sprite every single day every single week. I usually clean up the leftovers, but if the refrigerator is bare, I just make ramen soup.

  10. Breakfast is a cinnamon and raisin English muffin with coffee, and lunch, if I have it, a sliced apple that I spread low fat peanut butter on, or yogurt, During the day, maybe grapes, or a "cutie" which is a small easy to peel orange for a snack. On Sunday, we eat breakfast out, so two eggs over easy with crisp bacon, and wheat toast. Just had two Oreo cookies with coffee, so it is what it is..Oh, and dinner tonight we had chicken and a salad. No potatoes since September of last year. So far so good.cuz I LOVE potatoes..If we have a sandwich, we use the wraps instead of bread. Again, so far so good...

    1. Hi Bonnie :)

Thank you for your visit. As I said above to Chris, I'm so sorry it took so long to respond.

I like your choice of meals ;)

  11. I ate a baked potato (alternate regular with sweet) for supper for about two years! So yes, I can eat things forever. Food just doesn't float my boat. I don't like salt or pepper. My youngest daughter just LOVES food. Me, just as long as it keeps me going, I'm good.

  12. I'm like you as far and breakfast and lunch! There is something familiar about the same foods! And I like that!

  13. Yeah, those chips are way too good! I tend to eat the same thing because then I don't have to figure out what I'm going to eat. Lol. I go through phases: 2 billed eggs and a slice of Ezekial bread toasted. I'll do that for a week, then maybe 3 oz. beef and a slice of pepper cheese and horse radish on a slice of Ezekiel bread, then maybe yogurt and flaxseed and almonds...... It goes on like that. I have to have enough protein at noon or I crash. I've often said that if they made a dog food for people, I'd probably buy it. Lol. But only for lunch.

  14. I do the same thing with my breakfast and lunch. I try to eat very healthy but chips are my weakness...nothing better than salt and vinegar kettle chips. Excuse me while I go get a snack. ;)

  15. I usually don't eat much breakfast unless we've made muffins or bread. Lunch is really whatever we have and that varies, and dinner is whatever I make. Wow, that sounds rather boring, but oooh, kettle chips -- love those! :)

  16. I'm the same as you! I just came off a 3 week turkey sandwich stint, LOL. My newest lunch obsession is a orzo pasta salad I made and pita chips. And I switch up my dinner so much, we hardly ever have the same thing even for a repeat. I always tell myself I'll eat whatever I want for lunch and then boom- I end up eating the same thing over and over. I'm a creature of habit :) Have a great weekend Rue!

  17. I love those chips too, the plain flavor. What are you up to on this nice Saturday?

  18. I "discovered" those Kettle chips not long ago and love them too! I also go thru phases of things I eat....last summer it was thin sliced turkey sandwich meat rolled up, grapes, cheese cubes & crackers....right now it's 1/2 tuna sandwich and chips...and I eat pineapple chunks constantly! My all time favorite summer lunch meal is fresh from the garden tomato sandwich with Hellman's mayo, chips and Coke! Whenever I make my hamburger soup we eat on it for days....I thought I was the only one with those eating habits....happy to know I'm in good company (LOL)!

  19. For breakfast, toasted slice of 5 grain bread with avocado, lunch is usually tuna (from pouch) with a bit of mayo and dijon, capers and dill pickles with some type of cracker. I can make both of these in my sleep and probably have! I love the chips too, but it's hard not to eat the entire bag! When "good" tomatoes are in season, I love tomato sandwiches with thinly sliced onion. Yum....

  20. Ru, I eat so many different things for lunch. Mostly, I whip up whatever I have in the fridge......turkey, cheese, and crackers or chips; sometimes leftover pasta; sometimes stuffed eggs. I have to have a variety. But always a bit of chocolate on most days. ;~)

  21. I am just catching up on blog reading and firstly, BUBBA! My goodness what a little cutie!! Secondly, kettle chips, I love the salt and cracked black pepper ones - very addictive so I can perfectly understand. For lunch I usually work through but when I am at home my hubby ALWAYS makes tuna, onion and sweetcorn sandwiches... bless him! Have a wonderful weekend and give Bubba a big hug from me xx

  23. LOVE those chips! They are YUMMMM!!!

  24. I eat the same meal often. I know many people that don't like leftovers or repeating a meal, but I'm fine with it. Since, I get up late, I often have lunch for breakfast and then breakfast for dinner in the evening. Simple, easy and cheap, that's for me.

  25. I don't like eating the same thing over and over again - I like variety! Lunch could be just about anything, but it's most likely something healthy: a salad with a lot of variety...organic greens, veggies, sometimes sliced strawberries, maybe some nuts or cheese for protein; soup; some cheese and crackers with fruit; a smoothie with different fruits & veggies; tuna salad; pasta salad with lots of veggies; veggies and pita chips with hummus; toasted Ezekiel bread with nut butter and banana or piled with avocado, tomato & cucumber; or scrambled eggs with a variety of veggies & a piece of toast.

  26. Like to eat in my comfort zone! I usually have just about the same things for breakfast and lunch! Mix it up though for dinner!

  27. My daughter loves salt and vinegar chips. I tend to prepare similar meals for myself everyday.

  28. There are two kinds of people...those that eat to live (like Brenda), and those that live to eat (like me!). Usually those of us that fall into the later category tend to not eat the same things but I find that's less true when it comes to breakfast or lunch.

If I'm home, I like to make a smoothie or have some soup. If I'm out, a salad is what I like to order and if I'm really hungry, I'll add some soup into the mix.

P.S. Looks like I'm in the minority with those vinegar chips, Me no likey.

  29. Oh that looks like the perfect lunch to me! I love cheese with apples too. :)

  30. Kettle chips are the best in taste and the best thing to get you addicted! Never had grapes, chips and cheese at the same time but it does look so good on your plate!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm in the same camp. Breakfast is coffee, then a banana and sometimes yogurt. Lunch is usually an apple and string cheese. I'll have some grapes if I have some here. Since it is just the two of us I usually cook dinner two nights in a row then we we have leftovers a day or two. My youngest son (in NY) has the same thing every day - breakfast, lunch and dinner. Says he doesn't have to think about it that way - doesn't have to think when he goes to the store either. His bride is vegetarian so even when they get to eat together they don't eat the same thing. Works for them.

  32. LOL! Those chips are addicting. My son Chris and I adore them.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I have a weakness for any kind of potato chip, so I don't buy them ,or I'l eat the entire bag one chip after another! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I can't keep those chips around or yes, addictive. My husband loves the dill pickle chips and eats them until his mouth puckers.

We're big breakfast fans, the best meal of the day. When one of our sons was diagnosed with hypoglycemia while into sports in high school, I started fixing big breakfasts and we got used to it. For the last 5 years my husband has taken over most breakfasts as he gets up earlier than I do now.

Lunch is leftovers and I've begun cooking my supper by the middle of the day when I can rather than face it late in the day. When there are no leftovers for lunch I've gotten in the habit of heating up Progresso Chicken with Orzo and mixing in some frozen kale and quinoa. Lemon goes in almost everything I eat except eggs!

  35. I eat either left overs, or.... now this is bad...but I just discovered these turkey (all fat -free!) hotdogs by Ball Park Franks. They are really, really good and I eat them cold out of the package. Shouldn't eat that process stuff, but in my head, I am thinking, well, it's turkey (or maybe it is chicken?)! I also like eating salt and pepper pistachios - shelling them is fun and forces me to take a break.

    Big hug

Thank you so much for leaving a comment. It means so much to me that you took the time and I read each and every one. If you don't have a blog, look for a response under your comment. I try to get to them within a few days :)

For some reason, the comment box doesn't always show up, so if you want to leave a comment, replying to someone else's comment seems to work. Also, I've had to switch from safari to chrome in order to comment on blogger, so that might be the issue. If not, you can always reach me via email, located on my side bar. Thank you!
